I am a native Washingtonian and have lived in Clark County since 1973 when my father retired from the Air Force and put down roots in Clark County.Tracy and I have been married for over 32 years, and we have 3 daughters and 3 grandsons.My husband and I, along with other family members, are co-owners of DeWils Industries.With the help and dedication of friends and neighbors, I was elected in 2014 to the House of Representatives. I was appointed to the Transportation & Public Safety Comm. Also I was appointed to a leadership role as Asst Min. Whip and appointed to the bipartisan Joint Administrative Rules Review Comm and selected Ranking Member of the Community Development, Housing, and Tribal Affairs Comm in Nov 2015.I decided to run for the State Senate because I wanted to continue my efforts to promote an environment of opportunity for all of Clark County’s residents. In addition, it is imperative we stop the radical agenda of Seattle’s special interests. There are consistently many bad bills introduced in the Legislature that are narrowly passed by the House. These bills would have raised taxes, killed jobs, and stifled individual rights. Many of these harmful bills would be law today if not for the Republican controlled Senate that stopped these bad House bills from becoming law. In Nov, a special election in the 45th dist flipped the control of the Repub senate by 1 vote giving full control of the legislature to the democrat party. It remains to be seen how they will handle it. It is important we maintain a balance in the Senate and elect individuals, like me, who will work to protect you from an ever expanding government that spends too much of your hard earned income.After serving as Chair on the Higher Ed comm, on Law and Justice, Transportation and Commerce and Labor last session, I now serve on 2 committees; Law and Justice & Labor and Commerce. I’ve fought for you in the House, and I continue to do the same for you in the State Senate.
