Senior Computer Operator/Business Systems Analyst
Self-directed position requiring attention to detail and willingness to accept personal responsibility for the function of a regional (encompassing three divisional warehouses) warehouse and operations center. Monitored all aspects of operations, including telecommunications, mainframe operations, server systems, emergency power systems, et cetera.Analyzed mainframe batch schedule to detect operational bottlenecks, developed improved and more fault-tolerant schedule, and implemented it to improve operational efficiency.Developed numerous documentation systems to train junior personnel and standardize operational procedures.Developed numerous server-side applications to collect or analyze mainframe data in order to create new datasets for use by executive staff, warehouse management, and corporate staff.Initiated and led automation initiatives, saving untold man-hours of labor and countless thousands of dollars in revenue. These initiatives eventually led to my downsizing, as I allowed the remaining BSA to take on the work of two persons without lost productivity.Used my knowledge of warehouse operations to produce applications that analyzed activity to detect bottlenecks and potential fraudulent activity, improving the efficiency of the warehouse operations.Became support person for the order entry system due to my self-acquired and in-depth knowledge of this system, knowledge that allowed me to improve its efficiency by rewriting the scripts with which it maintained itself.
