A former archivist and special librarian, I now research, write, and blog on late 19th and early-mid-20th century Georgia photographers, associated persons and businesses. My Georgia Photographers Documentation Project exists to document the state's photographers and their associates, including women and minorities, 1841-mid-20th century. My database thus far has 3400+ records of resident and visiting professional and amateur Georgia photographers, partnerships, and associates (about 2000 individuals). My experience "on both sides of the desk" is key to my research ability. My interest in and knowledge of the photographers of Georgia began in the late 1970s as first photo archivist for what is now the Atlanta History Center. There I developed and curated several exhibits, the most important of which was ALBUM, with photo-historian Heinz Henisch as co-curator, at Handshake Center for the Arts (1980) for which a catalog was printed by Atlanta's Nexus Press. I created exhibits on the Daguerreotype and other cased images for the Atlanta Historical Society and Emory University, 1979-85. My interest and expertise grew throughout the 1980s and 1990s until, in 2002, I was able to begin to concentrate on this abiding interest full-time.I am an author and speaker on Georgia photographers, and related topics. I am included in both editions of "Photographers, a Sourcebook for Historical Research", and I am listed on the International Directory of Photo Historians site. I have contributed biographical information on Georgia photographers to Luminous Lint (http://www.luminous-lint.com/app/home/) and genealogical websites. I provide information to museums, collectors and archives, and I am happy to provide information to those individuals with a legitimate research interest.
Listed skills include Team Facilitation, Research, Articles, Database Design, and 21 others.
