Researcher, Advisor, Professor - Social Perception of Science & Artificial Intelligence / AI EthicsFull-work permit in the US (Green Card). Researcher:Currently, I research on the public understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Tufts University. Before, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where I conducted three focus groups on AI to understand public perceptions. My approach: controversies raised by AI have inspired heated debates in the public sphere (e.g., impact on education, authorship, future of work, distrust of digital information, as well as biases in data, algorithms, and teams). I believe there is an urgent need to find ways to make social voice relevant to AI developments and governance (e.g., about expectations and concerns). In addition, I explore what are the most conducive ways to communicate the complex content of AI-based technologies to the general public in a way that does not generate unrealistic images of science and scientists/technologists. Advisor:I have promoted successful spaces for dialogue between scientists, politicians and citizens. I have been part of the citizen initiative “Ciencia en el Parlamento”, and a member of the Board of Directors. As a result of the initiative, the Spanish Congress created in 2021 the first "Office of Science & Technology" in Spain, with a budget of €200,000 per year.Professor: I teach the course "Social Perception of Science” at Tufts University. I have also been invited as a speaker at outreach events such as TEDx talks, Pint of Science festivals and multiple scientific events with a gender perspective.
