Conceiving and creating a performatve project on the European District in Brussels.Project introduction: Entering the European district the first thing you will see are the buildings of the European Community, with their reflecting glass surfaces ceiling the interior. Surveillance cameras, disguising in other shapes or strongly repeating their “fundamental” omnipresence, will stare after you, while wire fences on the sidewalk are ready to bar the access for the next summit. Next to this scenario inhabitants of the European quarter are living.Who are they?As one of them I started to look at my neighbours from my “home-security distance”.I moved my observation point from the window to the terrace, exposing my self to their gaze. I sought a follow-up to the stories, grown in this shared space of exchanging looks.I visited them in the intimacy of their places and my imaginary stories turned into the stories of our meeting. The sharing of their visions overturned my point of view and changed the terms of our relationship.
