Simmons College

As co-editor-in-chief of The Simmons Voice, I oversaw a team of 15 members that produced a weekly student-run newspaper with a circulation of 1,500. I wore various hats as co-chief. Each week, I wrote and sometimes copy edited articles. I was responsible for creating the newspaper's layout using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. I collaborated with Simmons organizations and faculty to keep the community informed. From time to time, I also helped manage the Voice's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Through this organization, I provided undergraduate students with professional hands-on journalism experience.

I assisted in various digital and print communications. I wrote articles on current research projects for the Harvard Dental Bulletin, a print publication, and for HSDM's website to keep its constituents informed. I also worked with archivists to research and generate content for a digital timeline of Harvard School of Dental Medicine's 150 years to help celebrate their upcoming 150th anniversary.

I crafted a marketing plan in Spanish on how I would best sell argan oil, a Moroccan product, in the U.S, as it can be used to help prevent cardiovascular disease, according to various studies. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death for American women (CDC). The plan aims to promote conscious consumption and the well-being of both American and Moroccan women by proposing alliances among Arganour, a Spanish company that sells argan oil, and several international health organizations.

I wrote blog posts related to animal welfare to promote the NHSPCA's mission. I also participated in bulk mailings and fundraising events to provide development support to the nonprofit's small staff.

During my freshman year, I was a staff writer and wrote frequently and took photographs for The Simmons Voice. I mostly covered hard news stories, arts and entertainment pieces and some feature stories. As a marketing associate, I researched and qualified both companies and organizations associated with Corey. I utilized Microsoft Excel to format lists of researched companies. I assisted in writing press releases and in content creation for Corey's monthly newsletter.

As a student ambassador, I hosted delegates (women) from more than 20 countries at Simmons College, Mount Holyoke College, and Smith College. I learned how to use Microsoft Excel by preparing excel documents to organize delegate and speaker information. I strengthened my social media skills by bolstering the WPSP presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. During my time at the WPSP, I developed leadership skills, my own leadership style, and public speaking skills by managing a large group of people (approximately 50 delegates). I was flexible in managing crises as they arose by exercising excellent problem-solving skills every day. I also blogged about my experience as a student ambassador, which strengthened my writing ability.

Greater Boston Area

I raised money for the Simmons College Making Education Work Campaign, which raised a total of $100 million by asking alumnae to make gifts towards the college for scholarships that make it possible for students to have greater access to the Simmons education and other opportunities such as study abroad.

I published articles and provided photographic skills to improve the content and aesthetic of the newspaper. I also interviewed subjects on recent local news and community issues to provide relevant communications for eight surrounding towns.

Exeter High School

I wrote articles and took pictures for my high school newspaper, The Talon. I also learned how to use Adobe Photoshop to edit pictures and create advertisements for local businesses. I am also proficient in InDesign, as it was the primary program we used along with Adobe Illustrator to design the layout of our pages.
