It is my nature to listen intuitively and non-judgmentally. I enjoy putting my own views aside and considering an issue from the speaker's perspective. So what field matches my personality better than psychology, which is all about people's thoughts and behaviours? I am a PhD student at Monash University. I would like to expand my knowledge of the role of culture, and gender on mental health. Particularly, my thesis explores how being silent differs across cultures and how it can affect mental health.I have been trained clinically in Iran and worked in three main areas:- Supportive group therapist, and a psycho-education therapist in a psychiatric hospital- CBT therapist (under supervision) and analytic therapist (under supervision) in university counselling services and private practice- Education director in a teenager mental health promotion enterprise.If you have any questions, you can contact me via email at elham.davoodi@monash.edu
