About Elham Zargar, Phd

As an educational researcher, I am experienced in various qualitative and quantitative research methods and skilled in different data analysis methods, such as analysis of variance, multiple linear regression, and hierarchical linear modeling. I have co-authored multiple research articles published in journals, such as Reading and Writing, Computers and Education, and Journal of Educational Psychology.As a research associate at WestEd, I currently work on multiple evaluation projects focused on mathematics education and educational technology programs, by leading and supporting research administration, data collection, and data analysis.I have previously worked on creating a web-based classroom observation tool to measure the amount and type of instruction individual students receive in their classrooms and evaluating its predictive validity. Additionally, I have studied the cognitive and metacognitive processes underlying reading comprehension in elementary school-aged students (using paper assessments and eye-movement analysis) and evaluated the effectiveness of an e-book on students' reading comprehension skills. One of my goals as an educational researcher is to help individualize instruction for students based on their needs and abilities to advance learning effectiveness, using technology-mediated tools.
