Hello! I’m Eli, a Software Engineer with a background in Physics and Linguistics as well! I began my studies as a Physics major but my interest in coding and computer science led me to pursue USC’s hybrid Physics/Computer Science major. From there, my interest in coding has only grown, and my strong background in mathematics and problem-solving from the Physics portion of my degree has augmented my approach to many of my coding solutions. While this degree was grueling and intimidating, it emboldened me with a dedicated work ethic and a desire to grow even further in the field of computer science, which led me to pursue my master’s.After completing my undergraduate career at USC, I attended UW’s Computational Linguistics master’s program, where I combined my minor in Linguistics from USC with the Computer Science portion of my degree. There, I further honed my skills in Python and scripting while studying the combination of neural networks and human language. I combined all my studies there in a group project that analyzed how AI is currently able to tackle humor and controversy in text. I have linked our final paper below in my Featured section, please feel free to look at it!Afterwards, I decided to look into Web and Software Development, which was a part of coding I felt I had the least experience in. After exploring that area of the field through free online classes, I knew it was something I wanted to follow further, which is how I ended up at LearningFuze’s accelerated learning program! There, I have spent 14 weeks of over 60+ hours each week developing my skills and deep diving into the intricacies of both front-end and back-end development. Adding HTML, Javascript, Node.js, and more to skills was a worthwhile endeavor, and I can’t wait to connect with more enthusiasts looking to grow!When I’m not working, I love watching the English Premier League, playing pickleball and soccer, and connecting with friends! I also have a passion for volunteer work which I hope to expand upon after my time volunteering throughout my four years at USC.
