Managing major capital upgrades for the Akelius Boston portfolio of multifamily residential buildings.

Consultant and manager on the sustainable construction and rehabilitation of multifamily buildings in and around the Boston area.

As a member of the BE Retrofit team I audited commercial and institutional buildings and engineered weatherization projects on over 200 buildings.

I worked with Abodez Development to build high quality urban living spaces and develop the next generation of high density housing.

I am pleased to have had the opportunity to teach the Sustainable Building Systems: Designing for Environmental Quality course at the Boston Architectural College. This course teaches students in the Bachelor of Design Studies in Sustainable Design program key concepts of building science, including; building energy modeling, material selection and life cycle analysis, systems based design, LEED, and the integrated design process.

As a part of the Energy and Sustainability team I audited buildings and designed and implemented energy efficiency, renewable energy, and health and well-being improvements across Winn's portfolio of multifamily properties. Responsibilities included writing specifications and requests for proposals, soliciting bids for work, developing, executing, and managing architectural and construction contracts, and applying for rebates, incentives, and grants.

As a lead carpenter for Boston Green Building I worked on and oversaw construction projects with a focus on sustainable building practices. As the on-site eyes and ears for the company, I acted as a liaison between the office, client, architect, subcontractors, and laborers. Boston Green Building specializes in historical preservation, advanced insulating and air sealing techniques, and high efficiency appliances and HVAC systems. In 2009 I worked on and acted as on-site manager for a deep energy retrofit of a two family home in Medford, MA. This project pushed the envelope of residential building science to see how close to net-zero energy use is possible using traditional, low cost building products in innovative ways.

As the assistant project superintendent for commercial construction projects I managed information and documentation flow between the central office, clients, and subcontractors. Additional responsibilities included estimating material quantities and costs from blueprints, scheduling, running, and documenting regular project status meetings, and attending bid walkthroughs. Projects included major renovations of large hotels, ground up construction of major retail buildings, and gut-renovations of commercial real estate.
