I am the President and Co-Founder of Dedoose, an inexpensive, collaborative, easy-to-use, platform independent, and powerful tool that goes beyond the limitations of traditional software such as NVivo, Atlas.ti, and Maxqda. With my experience using both quantitative and qualitative methods with exceptional colleagues from a range of disciplines, our app is helping to innovate mixed-methods design, implementation, and data analysis. My areas of expertise include socio-cultural perspectives, mixed-methods research technology development, psychological and anthropological research, identity and development in individuals, family, community, organizations, and branding and marketing research. My interest in the development of mixed-methods research technology for the social sciences and market research domains was inspired by my early work leading the Fieldwork and Qualitative Research Lab at UCLA's Center for Culture and Health. This experience led to the creation of EthnoNotes, a solution for more efficient collaborative mixed methods research. Dedoose, a complete rebuild of EthnoNotes, represents the culmination of our work and is designed by researchers for researchers. Currently, I spend much of my time consulting with others in academia and the private sector to design and lead projects, train research teams, and support data analysis, interpretation, and presentation. There is great opportunity to develop in the mixed-methods space, and I am excited to continue exploring and expanding the advancing frontier with Dedoose.
