I taught alongside the head percussion instructor at Sanderson High School during the summer and winter competitive seasons. The goal is to help the students grow as musicians, teach them new skills in the field of percussion performance, and achieve high scores from judges. Responsibilities included leading rehearsals, giving personal instruction, and attending staff meetings to plan our approach. It can be challenging to connect with some of the students, since each has a different personality and background. This job took strong communication and leadership skills in order to effectively instruct students and help improve their performance capabilities. Each season, the ensemble as a whole continues to improve in both membership retention rate and scores. This past season, we had the largest group yet at 22 students, and placed third in our class at the Circuit Championships.

As a designer intern, I drafted, built, and tested various types of circuit breakers. In the office, I spent most of my time modeling and drafting, using software programs like NX and AutoCAD. I also looked up parts and extracted data files using the company's inventory software.In the shop, I modified and improved defective parts using large industrial tools, such as a drill press, a band saw, and a mill. I teamed with other interns to assemble prototypes and solve ongoing engineering problems as we continued improving our designs. The internship consisted of both group and independent projects. This required strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as self-sufficiency and the ability to take initiative. Most days were filled with collaborative problem-solving, requiring us to come up with clever solutions to create the best product for each client.

When an order was made incorrectly, I worked quickly with the kitchen to rectify the situation. This job was very fast-paced, and required me to stay calm under pressure.
