Managed the materials, resources, and staff members associated with our system’s local history and genealogy resources, and serving as an Assistant Manager liaison between the Adult Services Department and upper management. Primary duties included ordering materials and processing donations, writing a weekly service desk schedule and collecting timesheets, acting as a building supervisor and supervising six professional-level direct reports, and providing high quality customer service throughout the library system. Created a digital repository of our historic materials to better connect our customers far and wide to the exciting rare and unique gems in our collection, and used taxonomies and tagging to stay better organized and keep the system user-friendly.

Graduate Student Field Experience Processing Archivist

Processed several collections of varying sizes related to Kentucky history, businesses, and organizations; and created finding aids using Archivists' Toolkit 2.0. Over the course of the semester, worked primarily with a medium-sized collection of personal artifacts and business records of one of Kentucky's most well-known horticultural families, the Hillenmeyers. Using Greene-Meissner principles, condensed the initial 18 cubic foot collection into just under 11 cubic feet. Prepared an online exhibit using Omeka, as well as a poster presentation based on this collection.After graduating from the SLIS program in December 2011, I remained on as a volunteer until beginning an internship at Buffalo Trace Distillery in March 2012. During this time, I developed and installed a physical Special Collections Graduate Student exhibit showcasing the Hillenmeyer family papers; and processed and created finding aids (using Archivists' Toolkit 2.0) for various Kentucky-related collections.
