Day to day activities consisted of working on Medicare and Public Assistance conditional benefit liens, which involved daily coordination with MSPRC personnel in the initial, dispute, and final settlement phases, as well as scheduling of EBT’s, drafting Notes of Issue and other admin/legal assignments. Also asked to provide support on as-needed assignments, mainly in the final pre-trial phase, with work product geared towards ensuring complete integrity of case file before trial. Liaised and worked closely with county law enforcement personnel, and investigative bureaus, on assignment, in support of NCDA’s effort to move cases forward. Assigned pending cases and new intakes for further investigation, drafted memoranda, with the goal to rationalize and determine on what legal standing those cases can proceed. Undertook legal research electronically and classically, researching current case law, statutes and regulations binding precedent and persuasive authority, county and statewide to support the department’s ongoing investigations and matters. Worked directly with ADAs on various discovery devices such as department responses to FOIL requests.
