At Northwestern Mutual, I collaborated with Product Managers, Designers, Business partners, and other Researchers to identify research questions and execute on multi-phase research efforts. This spanned generative research (e.g., interviews, surveys) to understand a space and identify mental models, iterative research (e.g., usability testing) to shape and improve designs, and evaluative research (e.g., benchmarking) to compare to success metrics and identify risks.I was embedded in teams that support client financial transactions, as well as teams that support Financial Advisors in doing their work more efficiently and effectively. Much of this work focused on new products or designing digital transformations in previously manual systems.

I spent my doctoral training focusing on statistics, research methods, and writing skills. I used behavioral and neuroimaging methods to understand causes and effects of math anxiety—that sense of dread some feel when confronted with mathematics. - Created a research program, from reviewing literature and creating hypotheses, to experimental development, analysis, and writing. - Learned complex methodology, including fMRI theory, methods, and analytical pipeline. - Managed a team of undergraduate research assistants, helping them with Honors projects and making plans for post-graduation. - Wrote up experiments and literature reviews for publication.

- Taught undergraduate level classes most semesters, including Research Methods, Statistics in Psychology, and Statistics in Psychology: Honors. - Acted as the instructor of record for Junior Year Writing for three semesters. - Developed lesson plans and activities, engaged students in discussion about writing for an audience. - Held the position of College of Natural Sciences Teaching Fellow and taught 32 students in a first-year seminar. - Helped students transition into their first year of college while guiding them in the basics of scientific thinking using the theme of numerical cognition.
