The prime aim and objectives of the 'Network of Researchers on the Chemical Evolution of Life' are to promote and disseminate research information relating to the chemical evolution of life on the Earth, from the advent of prebiotic chemistry through to the emergence of the cellular life forms, namely Archaea, Bacteria and Eukarya.

Research in the area of Martian Meteorites (SNC meteorites) using Raman & IR spectroscopy, TOF-SIMS, magnetic sector SIMS, e-microprobes, SEM/EDX/EBSD, XRD and other related instrumentation. Biosignatures, biomorphs, mineralogy and petrology of Martian meteorites (secondary hydrous minerals, possible biominerals). Developing specialised software for manipulating TOF-SIMS ion maps ad mass spectra as well as Raman spectra, literatue databases, scientific knowledge management systems. Recentrly involved in research/projects related to observations and growth statistcs and morphologies of fungi under micro and mega-gravity conditions. Background in microtechnologies and photonics (e.g LiGA, fs-laser machining and two-photon writing inside volumes of materials, MEMS structuring and MEMS assembly automation, etc.)Teaching Mineralogy and Petrology to at least 60students per year (including related labs). Producing teaching materia for the Web -interactive an presentations.
