I am a seasoned Automation Leader with 13 years of experience in laboratory automation and informatics spanning molecular biology, NGS, human iPSC culture/differentiation/screening, analytical assays for biologic/gene therapies, and genome engineering. I enjoy building high performing automation and software teams that serve as the 'glue' between the science, the lab, and digital. I have developed and deployed small and large automation/software platforms across discovery, research, process & analytical development, driving the science, operational excellence, and improvement in throughput. I have lived on the cutting edge during my whole career, building both first-in-class and best-in-class automation/software platforms, with close partnership with industry vendors. Whether it’s a small robot, integrated platform, data pipeline, LIMS, or novel piece of scientific instrumentation, I firmly believe that the user experience has to be a first principle; whether it’s for an internal scientist or the company’s customers, my teams always frame everything we build as a Product.I am a strong believer that automation in the lab is much more than understanding how to use a robot to move samples and liquids. I build cross-functional teams that write front-end and back-end code running on-prem and in the cloud, while collaborating with data engineering, IT security, and AI/ML teams to deliver a truly transformational product for the scientist. Throughout my career I have integrated these principles into automation deliverables, and as a result have developed robust, scalable, intuitive, and transformational products that the scientist is actually able to use.I love problem solving, living in the gray, wearing many hats, and building from the ground up.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● Equipment: Hamilton STAR & NIMBUS, Lynx, Formulatrix Mantis, Integra ASSIST Plus, I.DOT, CellCelector, Beckman Coulter Biomek, LiCONiC STX, Askion control-rate preservation, KX-2 arm/rail, InHeco ODTC, a4S & X-Peel, VSpin, LabElite ID Capper● Cloud: AWS Lambda, AppStream, S3, SSM, EventBridge, SQS, RDS, ECR, EC2● SaaS: Benchling, Quilt● Front-end: VueJS, PyQt, Electron● Back-end: Python, SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite)● Testing: TDD, Unit, Integration, End-to-End, Pytest, Jest, Testcafe● DevOps: Pulumi Infrastructure as Code, GitHub/GitLab/CodeBuild CI Pipelines, Docker, Devcontainers● Data Science / Informatics: Illumina & PacBio read alignment (bowtie2, STAR, Needleman-Wunsch, Waterman), Edena genome assembler, BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser, scikit-learn, Perl
