-About:"The Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (SECCDC) provides an opportunity for qualified educational institutions in the Southeast to compete as part of the national CCDC organization (see www.nationalccdc.org). [...] In the SECCDC, teams of students are ssigned a computer network segment. These network segments include several computer servers deploying a variety of operating systems, configurations, and hosting standard business services. The student teams attempt to defend those network segments from attackers – portrayed by a group of professional penetration testers, while maintain those business services and responding to work requests from their “corporate headquarters”. "-My task:I was tasked with the E-Commerce server which was running LAMP, Linux being CentOS. I also helped in terms of commands and other task for the Ubuntu DNS server and the Debian Email server. Due to being attacked by the red team while starting with a system in need of being hardened there were various task I needed to perform, such as:Management of users and processes. Configure iptables.Install updates.Install antimalware and run scans. Monitor my connections and user activity.-Results:We ranked 16 out of the 33 Colleges/Universities that comepted in the SECCDC.
