I had an entry level position with a start up company. I was mainly responsible for operating a small lab where I did distillation experiments with pyrolyzed tire oil and other slop/waste oils to determine how these industrial products can be refined and redistributed in a fiscally robust manner.

I was the project manager of a pilot plant for a start up algae company and was solely responsible for all day to day operations. I oversaw the pilot algae plant from design to construction and operation. I hired and supervised a number of other contractors to help with the conversion of an abandoned waste water facility into an operational project that further proved numerous aspects of the concept. I worked with electricians and plumbers, honing a variety of basic skills. I originally acquired a lot of those maintenance skills and my work ethic growing up on a farm.

I conducted multiple experiments and recorded them in a lab notebook. Excel data sheets were used to manage the numerical interpretation, and PowerPoint presentations were given on the results. Many lab tools were used such as digital scanning calorimeter, extruder, and infrared spectroscopy. I helped maintain MSDS sheets, lab cleanliness and basic supplies.
