The digital marketing landscape is pretty chaotic. Fortunately, life has trained me to find patterns and beauty within the mess. My degree is in communication, this is my story: My earliest work experience was in fast food, then I transitioned into retail. Working retail wasn’t glamorous, but it was fun. At Earthbound, I learned meeting sales goals and earning sales bonuses. Funny enough, people will buy pretty rocks if they like the story behind them. Unfortunately, I lost my tiger's eye stone. As a hip-hop DJ and producer, I’ll probably offend the fans of good lyrics, but “vibes” drastically outweigh words. Being responsible for vibes carries much more weight than people like to give credit to. Please handle the aux cord (bluetooth if you’re fancy) duties carefully. I learned the monetary value of marketing and leads while selling cars. The biggest lesson was that for every person who stepped into the dealership, “X” amount of money was spent to get them there and closing a deal was crucial. Officer Candidates School was tough. Really tough. I like to call it my least fun vacation. I’m beyond grateful for the Marines who taught me what they could about good character, leadership, and battle readiness. Finally, Genpact introduced an opportunity. Not just with their company and facebook, but to the digital marketing landscape as a whole. First of all, every business plays the marketing game from solopreneurs to international corporations and every successful ad campaign has a pattern. I saw over 500 ad accounts, big and small in every industry Mark Zuckerburg would allow and some companies are making a killing by running facebook ads. Once I saw the power of Facebook marketing, I knew it would be wise to start learning as much as I could. I took a course about SEO on coursera. I’m still working my way through the Google Ads courses. I earned several facebook certifications at Genpact. As we speak, I’ve spent a few thousand dollars on marketing software and tools for hands-on experience. I’m doing some volunteer work for my Church’s daycares and Mike’s off the Square in Mckinney. I’ll present a case study about them soon. I don’t plan on doing free work forever.
