Obtain vendor quotes and recommend, implement, and manage selected technologies including network and security gear, servers, and monitoring systems. Build network and security vendor relationships with a focus on future projects. Managed numerous high profile security related projects including identifying a more cost effective email filtering system. Collaborated with multiple ISPs to plan, implement, and manage a multi-homed BGP architecture. Migrated security functions to Palo Alto Networks 2050 appliance. Authored technical and general documentation in support of network, security, and telco systems. Created/maintained Visio maps of Layer 2/Layer 3 networks, phone systems, WAN circuits, and IP schemes. Implemented and managed all aspects of Cisco 6500, 3750, Nexus 1000v, 4001 (specific to IBM Bladeservers), ASA 5505 and 5510, Cisco IDS, MDS9216, MDS9148 and Juniper Netscreen-50. Responsible for implementation and daily operation of IPsec VPNs using Cisco VPN concentrator and later an ASA 5510. Networked VMware system with over 200 virtual servers and EMC CX3-80/CX4-80/NAS using Nexus 1000v and Nexus 4001. Current plans are to migrate 6500 switches to Nexus 5000 and 7000 switches.
