About Elijah Muhammad

I am currently a middle school humanities educator at Sisters Academy of Baltimore, which serves Black and brown middle school women within Baltimore City. In addition to classroom instruction, I facilitate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives as the DEI Coordinator & BoT: Diversity Committee member at various institutions. In my previous role I was a middle school social studies teacher and DEI Coordinator at The Odyssey School and a special education teacher and case manager within the Baltimore City Public School System. My collegiate academic achievements include being selected as an Ujima Scholar. Additionally, I received the Sociology Department Award for Student Activism-Awarded which is awarded to one graduating senior each year who has shown a commitment to social justice on campus and in the community. I am interested in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and most importantly justice; within both public and private school contexts. I am passionate about dismantling white supremacy and anti-blackness in social studies and language arts curricula.
