Executive Director
CurrentDuring my first week as executive director, an older gentleman walked into our office and needed a shower bench. During our conversation he shared with me that he needed this piece of equipment for another older gentleman who he had only known for 18 months but who he decided to care for because he didn’t have any other family or friends. He walked about a mile to our office because he didn’t have a car and he planned to walk a mile back to their shared apartment carrying the shower bench for his friend. As I watched him leave our building to go back to his caregiving responsibilities I thought about how his story was a perfect illustration of the often “invisible” work that we do in the community. Since 1911 Federated Charities has operated a vibrant health care equipment loan closet but we also offer space in our historic building to organizations that provide services for our most needy citizens.Federated Charities is part of a commitment that caring individuals made to our community more than 100 years ago and we continue to pledge our support to our non-profit tenants by providing them with low cost space so they can focus their resources on what they do best—serving the local community. As the starting point for countless charitable organizations over the years, we have seen these organizations flourish and grow under our roof.My role as executive director is to raise the profile of the organization through fundraising and marketing/brand development activities. I will be working closely with the board of directors and the community to refine our mission for a new generation of local charities.
