A member of the Sheffield Hallam Rugby Union Committee throughout the 2021-2022 season. My main role was as 'Fresher Liaison Officer' whereby I ensured that all new members of the rugby club (1st years and upwards) were supported, comfortable, welcome and included. It was a really rewarding role and was great to assist in organizing socials, partaking in admin on behalf of the club for the University and being one of the leaders during the season.

Undertaking AECOM’s industrial placement scheme as part of my sandwich year at university based out of AECOM’s Manchester office. Undertaking several QS & PM responsibilities on a variety of projects and programmes all with contrasting values (£1.9m – £1b) during my time at the company. The experience provided me with an in-depth insight into the operations of a construction consultancy and the roles undertaken within it. The 12-months has increased my understanding of the roles of a QS & PM dramatically and has increased my confidence in the various roles and responsibilities learnt on my university course. Experience included: Cost Modelling & Cost Planning, Benchmarking, Value & Risk Analysis, Measurement using COSTX, Procurement tasks & managing tender processes, Compilation of contract documentation, Attendance at site progress meetings, completion of valuations, financial reporting, review and management of change control procedures, management of risk registers, action logs, decision logs & RFI logs, attending project board meetings, preparing a PEP (Project Execution Plan), chairing site progress meetings, chairing internal project team meetings, end-end processes, attending design milestone (RIBA) meetings & monthly project reporting.In addition to undertaking my placement responsibilities I also enrolled on the B+P Mentor Hub Scheme of which I worked towards goals/targets set by a mentor from the leadership team in the North to strive towards excellence and strengthen my level of experience.

Assisting the Warehouse Manager, Transport Manager, Despatch Administration, Sales Team, Customer Service and Warehouse Team to plan, take part in projects, provide Customer Service as well as act as a warehouse/yard operative to aid Direct Trade Ltd when needed running alongside my individual studies at Sheffield Hallam University.

During my two weeks of work experience I had a week within the head office alongside the Quantity Surveying Team as well as a week out on a live site located in Doncaster with a site manager. Activities included:- Procurement of goods, materials and services to site. - General Administration of projects during pre-construction and construction phases. - Traditional Take-Off work vs BIM Modelling and how it plays a role in efficiency of procurement, tendering and project management. - Inviting Sub-Contractors to tender in accordance with the Conroy Brook/Ben Bailey trade specifications. - Review from tenders of sub-contractors, checking against schedules and drawings. - Cost analysis, Reporting and Forecasting. - Writing and placing a sub - Contract agreement. - Constructing a “Build Programme” together using Microsoft Project/Excel. - Project management on a live site. - Health and safety on a live site. - Meeting’s with management and external architects.
