Since 2008 my primary role has been to develop and manage the first ever Porsche Human Performance Centre [PHPC], Silverstone. We employ a team of specialist staff in the fields of sports science, coaching, strength & conditioning, sports injury and medicine. Being the performance coach to Stoffel Vandoorne at McLaren F1 is a diverse role that involves planning and delivering a periodised training programme around a very busy racing and testing schedule in 21 countries. Monitoring training load and implementing recovery, nutritional and travel strategies to optimise performance. Organising and delivering warm weather pre-season training camps including all cardiovascular, strength and conditioning training as well as being his sports massage therapist.From an administrative perspective the role includes being the linking person between Stoffel and the wider team to help manage external stresses. During race weekends I also provide a supporting role to the mechanics including delivering pit stop warm ups, sports massage therapy and exercise prescription to help look after them over an intense race weekend.
