I worked as a summer hand on the factory floor. My main responsibility was operating the newly purchased PUR binding machine, but I also widely contributed to other parts of the production process.

Worked alone experimenting on copper indium sulphide quantum dots. Made extremely diluted samples to drop-cast onto nano-scale thin gold in an attempt to create highly ordered crystal-like structures, with potential future applications in the electronics industry. These were then analysed using scanning tunnelling and scanning electron microscopy techniques.

Alongside one other student, worked towards analysing and upgrading a research-grade atomic force microscopy system. Analysed a number of microscope heads to compare their internal electrical noises by plotting power spectral densities. Began testing of the new optical fibre laser to be implemented in the future.

Serving drinks and food to golfers, the public and working functions such as weddings. Also responsible for opening/locking the clubhouse, handling the daily financial intakes and assisting with running the pro-shop.
