About Elizabeth Ricker

Want to unlock better mental performance? I want to teach you how...by running experiments on yourself! My book, Smarter Tomorrow, is the culmination of 10+ years of my own research, my degrees in neuroscience and technology from MIT and Harvard, and the distilled knowledge of researchers, inventors, and neurohackers around the world. My approach is evidence-based, personalized to each brain, and accessible - you can do it in 15 minutes a day at home. Highlights from the launch of my first book, SMARTER TOMORROW (Hachette/Little, Brown Spark):-Winner of a 2022 Nautilus Book Award (international award) -One of "12 Books to Start a Smart New Year" by The Wall Street Journal-One of the "Top Book Bites of 2021" by New York Times bestselling authors Malcolm Gladwell, Susan Cain, Adam Grant, and Dan Pink's Next Big Idea Club-Translations into Chinese, Russian, Romanian, Japanese, and KoreanA big thanks to my literary agent Howard Yoon at WME (William Morris Endeavor).Highlights from my work (more generally):-My work has been featured globally, from The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company to public broadcast TV in Europe and The Hindu (India). -Through Ricker Labs, my work with Silicon Valley venture capital firms, technology startups, schools, and the Fortune 500 range from white papers on cognitive enhancement, developing an AI-based humor app, to workshops on technology-enabled meditation. -My citizen neuroscience organization, NeuroEducate, has brought brain imaging out of the lab and into the street. We teach people of all ages how to become neuroscientists of themselves. This includes a high school student whose project won a state science fair and another teenager who presented original research at a professional, international neuroscience conference. -Through Brightsight Speakers Bureau and Luminary Cafe, I lecture and consult across the US and overseas. My professional background is primarily in brain research and technology startups. It's included stints singing in a rock band, advocating for get out the vote in national elections, training and mucking out horse stalls, and teaching sports to engineers. I received my undergraduate degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT. My graduate degree was in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard. In college, I worked in the neuroscience lab of Nobel Prize winner Dr. Susumu Tonegawa. I was also a serious athlete (top 20 nationally) and semi-serious president of my class at MIT (this occasionally involved dressing up in a giant rodent costume to play Tim the Beaver, the MIT mascot)
