As a community sector professional, I do more than just talk about making change, I help make things happen!As a teen mum and facing homelessness at 17, the statistics suggested I was 9 times more likely to experience disadvantage, including multiple barriers to education and employment. It was through my self-motivation and positive attitude that I have been able to achieve many goals in my life including a long and successful career in community development and completing multiple qualifications in Community Services, Project Management and Leadership. After owning my own entertainment business for 11 years and working with Makebelieve Children’s Entertainment, I made the move into the community services sector in 2007. I am a highly motivated, skilled and creative worker and have project managed several award-winning programs in health promotion, road safety and social isolation. I have worked across a number of diverse portfolios including; youth, positive ageing, children & families and people with all abilities and been part of the change in these communities. The skills and knowledge I posses from these experiences, coupled with many hard life lessons and experiences I have lived through give me a passion for equity and ensuring others have the opportunities to make appropriate life choices for themselves. I have a keen interest in the entertainment industry and have worked on screen as a part of major television and film productions. These include The Kettering Incident, Banished Women (Irish Documentary) and more recently the Australian comedy series Rosehaven. I am a natural entertainer and most recently have started training in the art of stand up comedy. My rich life experiences, coupled with my many professional skills enable me to be a competent and engaging presenter/speaker on topics such as resilience, raising self-expectations and relationships.
