My previous professional experience includes being an assistant preschool teacher in a program geared towards children with autism, at this job I received training and direction on implementing behavior plans developed by a behavioral specialist. I received more training on the previoisly mentioned at my current job: a Direct Support Professional at Rauch Inc. as well as training on personal care, ISPs, High risk plans, recognizing signs of abuse, and many other trainings. I am also first aid trained and CPR certified. I have a knowledgable understanding of American Sign Language that I learned while in high school and developed through a volunteer mission trip at a deaf school , and am continuing to develop within my relationships with my finances grandparents and other family members that are deaf. I also have a well developed knowledge of deaf culture because of this. I consider my most valuable personal qualities to be my compassion and passion for helping people, organization, optimism, and my creativity.Other work experience includes a volunteer daycare assistant, and a camp counselor. I am in the process of getting my BA in sociology with a minor in psychology, I am also considering a minor in ASL and will at the very least take ASL as my foreign language. I hope to eventually get my masters and become a certified behavior specialist or a pediatric mental health therapist. The next step in my career is to finish my degree and settle down in a mental health job geared specifically for children in order to gain more experience.
