My primary focus is project-based work in the international development and environmental sectors. I support clients in reaching objectives that benefit both people and planet, offering a range of services including: needs assessments, design of monitoring and evaluation systems, research methods and data analysis advice, customized curriculum design and training delivery, facilitating participatory processes, team-building to strengthen inter-organizational partnerships, and proposal writing. Thematic specialties include: biodiversity protection and livelihood development through protected areas, community conservation, ecotourism, non-timber forest products, etc., countering the illegal wildlife trade, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and water hygiene and sanitation (WASH).Long-term consulting roles include working with Fauna & Flora as Interim Team Lead for the UKAid-funded Biodiverse Landscape Fund Lower Mekong Programme (2023-2024), Cloudburst as 'Country Coordinator and Monitoring and Evaluation Manager' for the USAID/Cambodia Local Organizations-Movement Towards Self-Reliance Activity (2019-2020) and Winrock on the USAID/Cambodia Supporting Forests and Biodiversity Project (2014) prior to becoming an employee. The Biodiverse Landscapes Fund Lower Mekong Programme, funded by UK Aid, is a £15 million, 7-year programme to alleviate poverty, conserve biodiversity and address climate change across 10 protected areas and biological corridors in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. It is being implemented by Fauna & Flora, SNV and IUCN.- Managed inception phase, coordinating a hybrid team of 30+ people working across Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and the United Kingdom.- Managed relationships with donor, fund manager, independent evaluator, and delivery partners.- Organized initial host government engagement workshops in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.- Supported key staff recruitment and selection of permanent Team Lead and M&E Manager. - Delivered inception package including revised workplan, budget, logframe and theory of change. - Set up new programme office.

Managed a >$500,000 portfolio of private and government grants/individual donors, including budget development and leading narrative and financial reporting with inputs from managers and directors of 5+ different programs. Advised on development and expansion of new Community Conservation Support Program. Designed and managed systems to track and analyze conservation data from community patrols, wildlife care and release, etc. Co-authored scientific articles to share approaches and results.

Fundraising and grant management for a suite of Wildlife Rescue, Care and Release Programs to combat the illegal wildlife trade in Cambodia; rehabilitate rescued wildlife at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre and release appropriate animals into safe habitat; and protect released animals and endangered species through Community Anti-Poaching Units.

Developed and managed local consulting team to implement final evaluation on behalf of DC-based firm. Liaised with USAID/Cambodia Mission. Recruited and hired data collection service provider. Delivered Activity Authorization Request and evaluation work plan approved by USAID/Cambodia.

Recruited and worked with local advisory organizations, local implementing partners and local coaches. Helped recruit 100+ civil society organizations to participate in the "Resilience+ Framework," a capacity building programme delivered through the Activity. Advised implementing partners on how to customize materials for the Cambodian context - Partners Global on how to customize the "Resilience+ Framework," and DevLab@Duke on impact evaluation design. Developed the Activity's work plan, designed the M&E system and trained local coaches to use it, coached Cloudbust staff to prepare for USAID Data Quality Assessment audits.

Supporting Forests and Biodiversity in Cambodia was a $28 million USAID-funded project with the objective to improve conservation and governance in Eastern Plains and Prey Lang landscapes. As Sr. Advisor for Monitoring & Reporting, I: - Re-designed an integrated M&E system for coordinated reporting by a 20+ partner consortium.- Managed and technically reviewed reporting by World Wildlife Fund, Wildlife Conservation Society, The Center for Forests and People, East-West Management Institute, Pact, Conservation International, Geres, Wildlife Alliance and a dozen local NGOs.- Coordinated, collated, calculated targets achieved, and edited 13 quarterly reports to USAID.- Designed and oversaw implementation of the Environmental Management Plan and M&E Plan.- Supervised midterm and endline annual income and behavior change surveys.- Designed new, custom biodiversity indicator utilizing partners' ongoing species research surveys.- Supported development of a new online platform (WESTool) to estimate changes in ecosystem services as a result of deforestation (www.winrock.org/westool).- Designed and delivered WESTool training for 50+ local government officers.- Managed audits by USAID's Regional Inspector General and Data Quality Assessments by Mission.- Supported two successful project extension proposals, worth $1.8 Million in additional funding.

Hired by new Chief of Party, 1.5 years into project lifespan, to conduct M&E needs assessment to identify gaps/issues, to support and build capacity of local M&E specialist and train partners: - Re-designed existing M&E Plan and system to better capture outputs/outcomes of activities for REDD+/payment for ecosystem services, constructive dialogue, and value chain development for forest-based livelihoods. -Negotiated revision of definitions, milestones and data collection methods for customized indicators with USAID and partners, aligning partner reporting methods with new plan.- Trained Winrock and partner staff on new system, and change managed system implementation.- Designed new Environmental Management Plan and trained staff/partners to implement it.- Managed research team conducting baseline annual income survey, providing feedback on all data collection tools, sampling frame, methodologies, survey field pilot, and draft report versions.

Conducted applied research on knowledge sharing behaviors, barriers, and incentives to support a new engagement strategy for members. Designed activities for inter-organizational team building, including an original value chain game tailored to teach members about steps to achieve Gold Standard certification for household energy projects that reduce carbon emissions. Assisted with recruiting new members and writing fundraising proposals for multi-partner projects.

Facilitated capacity-building and fostered interaction among members using Nexus online platforms. Engaged members and conducted research on their knowledge-sharing needs, interests, and potential areas of collaboration. Supported management and fundraising for Nexus ‘Grants for Innovation’ (a seed incubator for innovative climate projects).Nexus – Carbon for Development is a cooperative "alliance of pro-poor project developers whose shared vision is that the carbon market should tackle both climate change and poverty in a fair and transparent way." Its Charter commits members to work together to “use carbon finance to reduce poverty, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and where possible achieve other benefits such as improved human health and conservation of biodiversity.”

Contributed to development of the 'Measures of Success,' a new institutional M&E framework, by creating new tools and assessing field-based scientific research projects in the Natural Resource Management portfolio.

Recruited, trained, and managed a roster of full-time volunteer staff working 1-3 month rotations, coordinated use of facilities to accommodate simultaneous tours in various languages for dozens of groups each day, and led guided tours through the insect classroom and gardens. The Monteverde Butterfly Garden focuses on entertaining visitors (up to 200 people/day) while teaching them about 60+ arthropod species and their importance in tropical ecosystems.

Managed sales, project quotes, budgets, installation and servicing of solar hot water systems. Office accounting, inventory and payroll. Supervised personnel (crew of 4). Facilitated $20,000+ renovation project for U.S.-based clients including contract negotiation and English-Spanish translation.
