At six months, she met the funding target with $650,000 in grants, saved a clinic from financial closure, started the 12th intermittent primary care clinic in the portfolio, initiated the transition to electronic medical records, developed the employee and volunteer manuals, brought on 3 new Board members, managed 5 direct reports & over 100 volunteers, and was personally active in grant writing.

As Director of Programs at SF CARD, I managed all program development, coordination, outreach and training. I worked up the ranks to Director of Programs, and was also the health sector disaster preparedness lead. At SFCARD, I developed training materials and led the SF CARD’s disaster health initiatives. Of note, I secured a 10K grant to provide research for the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit on long-term care facility medical surge resilience in disasters, becoming an Incident Command System instructor (with specialty in the Hospital Incident Command System, HICS). I was also a disaster preparedness instructor, a presenter at conferences, workshops & personalized corporate trainings, and I had 3 direct reports. While there, I earned my Certified Business Continuity Professional credential, my Ham Radio operator's license, and various FEMA Independent ICS training certificates for NIMS compliance. During my tenure, SF CARD was the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Contingency Planning 2011 from BRMA – the Business Recovery Managers Association.

While our organization has had many different names over the past century, we have always been dedicated to fighting lung disease and promoting public health in our local communities. I worked as a Team Captain and Flight Paramedic for the City of Galveston's 911 medical service in charge of patient and personnel health and safety responding in the Galveston Metropolitan Area and to oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. I also created a functional questionnaire that the elderly could fill out prior to an emergency and attach to their refrigerators, saving valuable time in critical medical situations. The idea was adopted by Galveston EMS and forms were distributed to frequent patients and nursing homes.
