Project: "Molecular and functional characterization of organ-specific spinal and vagal afferent nerve fibers" with Dr. Henning Fenselau as supervisor.During this experience, I have increased my knowledge in the fields of metabolism, central and peripheral nervous system control of metabolism and food-related behaviours and gastrointestinal system anatomy.Technically, I have acquired expertise in the following procedures:- animal handling- animal behaviour evaluation and analysis- optogenetics- and Calcium imaging-related experiments- brain, spinal and gastrointestinal surgery - single nuclei genetic sequencing- wetlab techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, Western blot)- molecular cloning design and execution- patch clamp electrophysiology- histological tissues preparation and analysis- microscopy (fluorescence, confocal and scanning)

Course: "Basic Research Techniques applied in Metabolic Neuroscience".During this experience, I have improved my teaching skills by delivering lectures on molecular cloning, viral structure and action mechanisms and I have actively supported the students in their learning path, some of which applied for joining the lab in which I was working.

Project: "Central mechanisms of neuropathic pain caused by diabetes" with Dr. Chiara Salio as supervisor.During this experience, I have increased my knowledge in the fields of central and peripheral nervous system regulation of pain-related response and diabetes-related systemic impairments.Technically, I have acquired expertise in the following procedures:- animal handling- patch clamp electrophysiology- histological tissues preparation and analysis- microscopy (fluorescence and confocal)I have also started a collaboration with a laboratory of Bioengineering of the Polytechnic of Turin for developing a customized analysis software (3DRG).

Project: "Optogenetics study of neuropathic pain in dorsal root ganglia" with Prof. Dr. Thomas Knöpfel as supervisor.I have personally designed this project to investigate electrophysiologically and optogenetically the DRG neurons in a genetically modified animal model. This work was supported by the fellowship for l’alta formazione interdisciplinare issued by Association Franco e Marilisa Caligara.

MSc candidate in the lab of Prof. Dr. Stefano Geuna, working on the project “Experimental study of chitosan as supporting biomaterial for peripheral nerve regeneration".During this experience, I have increased my knowledge in the fields of peripheral nervous system regeneration and biomaterials development as support for the peripheral nerve restoration. Technically, I have acquired expertise in the following procedures:- animal handling- DRG neurons in vitro culture- histological tissues preparation and analysis- microscopy (fluorescence and electron)
