As a research technician at Atuka, a contract research company within the University Health Network, I contributed to the research and development of novel therapeutics for Parkinson's disease. In addition to my role as a research technician, I was a part of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) group, which is dedicated to enhancing EDI awareness and engagement within the company.

My MSc research focused on investigating the role of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor in experience-dependent plasticity within the mammalian visual system. Concurrently, I worked on a second project exploring the changing expression of parvalbumin neurons and perineuronal nets in the visual cortex of normal and dark-exposed animals. This work led to a first-author manuscript.Throughout my MSc, I developed and implemented a novel multiplex immunolabeling quantification method to gain deeper insights into the mammalian visual system. I also gained expertise in immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, became proficient in microscopy and imaging techniques, and gained experience with western blotting protocols. These projects allowed me to hone my ability to draw conclusions from data and effectively communicate findings in written, verbal, and graphical forms.
