Music has been part of me my entire life. My parents immigrated from Scotland to Atlanta, GA just before I was born. Having a mom who sings and a dad who has two degrees in Piano Performance from the London College of Music, I was surrounded by classical music from birth. I was singing in the crib and started piano at age five. Growing up I found any musical outlet possible, from talent shows to violin lessons to the Young Singers of Callanwolde. In high school I was lucky to have been given many opportunities through chorus. I took the "scenic route" through college, trying to decide between piano or voice, but eventually graduated Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a Vocal Performance Degree. I sang with the Atlanta Opera and other places for fourteen years while starting a family, but soon realized my most distinctive gift was teaching music. Eventually I opened a music school, Buford Academy of Music, with my husband Erik Grant Bennett, and together we have watched our children and students thrive in that environment. While still running a music school and raising our four teenagers, I'm also representing my (musical genius) film composer husband as his talent manager. We are excited to be digging deeper into the film industry and meeting other wonderfully talented people! Life has not been boring. And as I always tell my students, we artists are just happier adults. We still get to play! : )
