Occupational Therapist with 4 years of professional experience and specialization in pediatric Sensory Processing Disorders. Since high school, I have engaged in dynamic volunteer, internship, and work experiences. These include: teaching therapeutic horseback riding lessons, tutoring, working as an aide in both daycare and early learning program settings, leading groups at the Summit Clubhouse program through Community Mental Health, and providing in-home care. I graduated with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University, during which I completed full-time fieldwork experiences at Ingham Intermediate School District, as well as Hope Network Neurological Rehabilitation Center. My level 1 (part-time) fieldwork sites included an out-patient pediatric program and a shelter for families impacted by homelessness. I’ve worked with children of a variety of ages who have diagnoses such as: developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, food selectivity/sensitivity, visual-motor or visual-perceptual disorders, traumatic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, fine and/or gross motor delays, etc. I value diversity, inclusion, and learning (or providing intervention) in the least restrictive environment. I believe in assisting children to achieve their greatest potential in an enjoyable and motivating manner to improve quality of life and maximize function. Family education and teamwork are essential in implementing these goals.
