I am a self-trained cake decorator with 30 plus years of industry experience working in grocery stores and ice cream shops. I have also served in the capacity of manager in my previous two positions. It is my nature to become very focused on the projects I undertake and welcome the opportunity to bring improvements to struggling businesses through leadership. Professional appearance and food safety are essential elements of my approach to working in any situation. And, I enjoy sharing my talents with others though teaching other decorators various skills. But, I'm also open to new ideas and always desire to learn more for myself.Some examples of my accomplishments include:The initiation and implementation of the "Ace of Cakes" contest through Mt. Lebanon Dairy Queen which engaged local elementary school children in the designing of a cake included in our store. With limited budgets for the arts in schools this has gone over very well in the community as well as bringing in many new customers.It was also my idea to make the stores I have worked in present a friendlier and "eye catching" feel from the moment a customer arrives. This includes everyday decor but more extravagant decorations for major holidays and celebrations.I was asked by Dairy Queen International to become a certified cake decorating teacher to certify the decorators at other DQ franchises. During this process, students asked me to create a how-to style video on decorating techniques and ideas.
