My career journey as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC) in both private practice and in veterinary academia has enabled me to hone my skills and passions as a clinician, innovator, leader, collaborator and educator. I have 16+ years of experience in successful clinical teamwork that is centered around effective communication and motivational leadership - I am driven by creating a positive and exciting clinical atmosphere for myself and for colleagues. I aim to optimize my team's efficiency while upholding the highest standards of safe, patient-centered care for pets and compassion for clients. As an educator, I’ve developed coherent and imaginative learning resources that encourage student collaboration and development of clinical reasoning, and I deliver genuine work-integrated learning for clinical veterinary students. As a curriculum strategist and coordinator, I've collaborated widely to promote competency-based veterinary education. I've been involved in the mentoring and supervision of dozens of residents through to successful completion of ACVECC board certification. As a community-minded veterinarian, I collaborate with colleagues in allied disciplines to research and educate veterinarians on important One-Health issues such as the relationship between family violence and animal welfare. In clinics, in the classroom and in the community I thrive on cultivating relationships.
