The fellowship program was created in 2005 to foster a community of global-minded individuals prepared to manage conflict effectively. One-year Insight Fellowships are awarded to individuals to study and promote effective conflict management, make international humanitarian contributions and pursue self-reflection and personal development.

Journey Thru Conflict (JTC) was founded in 2016 in an effort to provide people all over the world with the tools they need to prevent, manage, and resolve conflict with grace and ease. All of our services are founded on the basic principle that sustainable peace comes from within. The trainings, and services provided are designed to help parties self-analyze, communicate clearly and think creatively working towards mutually beneficial solutions to problems.

Justin Will Creations (JWC) Coffee Merchants was founded by Justin Will and Elise Willer as a socially-minded, inspiration machine. The mission was surprisingly simple, “make the world a better place, and have fun doing it”. Together, they form a well-informed, and well-intentioned, coffee sourcing and consulting business that aims to serve both ends of the supply chain.JWC Coffee Merchants boasts a global network of independent coffee farmers that are interested in establishing direct trade relationships with roasters and retailers in consuming countries. JWC can serve as the broker of these direct trade relationships, and is therefore not an intermediary. Founded in 2009, Rurener is a network of rural European communities working to leverage the potential of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs to stimulate sustainable rural development, foster cross-cultural exchange, and address the negative effects of global climate change. Currently the network is made up of over 200 member communities in 12 European countries making it one of the largest community-based organizations working on renewable energy development in rural Europe. In 2015, Rurener members in Belgium launched the "Citizens Climate Assembly"- a participatory democracy initiative on issues related to climate and energy policy in rural Europe. Forty randomly selected citizens spent three weekends together learning about and discussing energy and climate issues in their region and subsequently authored a list of recommendations for their locally, elected representatives. Rurener was honored to be the only representative of rural communities in the Espace Génération Climat at Cop 21 in Paris. For the duration of the climate negotiations, Rurener spoke with representatives from the international community on how rural communities can and should be involved in the fight against climate change.

Researched how emotions are displayed through non-verbal communication at the mediation table. The research on non-verbal communication had a particular emphasis on microexpressions. Designed and conducted mediation workshops and lead mediation simulations

• Researched and supported the construction of solar powered micro-grids in rural Tanzanian villages.• Monitored the sustained adoption of clean cook stoves (specially designed for Maasai households)• Provided aid and consultation to a recently created women’s organization within the project• Grant writing, fundraising, and general organization development.

Helped manage a staff of 9, providing curriculum support, monitoring and evaluation of teacher and student performance and class discipline for an academy of 40+ high school students.Planned and lead cultural activities in target language for academy-wide events.

Lead a coordinated effort of diverse stakeholders in order to grow Connecticut’s energy efficiency programming towards state mandated weatherization and CO2 reduction goals.Designed and implemented a pilot project in New Haven, CT that successfully tested community outreach methods in low-income neighborhoods as a means to increase participation in state-wide energy efficiency programs, lowering the cost of energy and creating jobs.

Managed nightly crews, researched and developed plans for 9 different campaigns including one that led to the first state-wide Paid Sick Day bill passed in the United States (June 2010). Hired, trained and managed a staff of up to 70 field representatives, fulfilled 9 different contracts worth over $500,000 collectively, remodeled the company’s organizational structure, creating and hiring two new assistant director positions.

Taught beginner’s English to eight different elementary school classes (students ages 7 to 12). Conducted evening English classes for teachers, parents, and administrators.

Acted as the key liaison between the administration and student body with the goal of creating a “greener” campus; oversaw and maintained the first sustainable, campus-wide recycling and composting programs; provided impetus for the construction of Wittenberg’s first LEED certified educational building; created the Sustainability Task Force which lead to sweeping changes in University policy including plans to cut CO2 levels by 20 percent by the year 2020.

Conceived and implemented a plan to help local women sell fair-trade goods internationally.Conducted in-person interviews and submitted a final report, Une Echange Equitable, Ségou.

Organized meetings for ELCA staff with Senate and House Members; organized civic engagement tours in the 4 early primary states. Conducted research on a variety of issues including the U.S. Farm Bill, the conflict in Darfur, Sudan and others.Managed communication with grassroots leaders of the “ONE Campaign” while updating and maintaining related databases.
