Director, Corporate Communications I served as the top public relations executive for this international hotel corporation (now part of Hilton Hotels Corporation) with 1,000 hotels operating under the brand names of Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn/Inn & Suites, and Homewood Suites. In this role, I developed a financial communications campaign for the 1995 spin-off of the hotel division from its parent company, wrote the first corporate identity book, and coordinated all national media relations and Wall Street activities surrounding the first trading day. Director, Franchise Marketing Created from the ground up a comprehensive marketing program to increase all brands' franchise sales. Oversaw national advertising and public relations agencies, coordinated intensive trade media effort, collaborated internally with franchise sales directors. Developed highly targeted direct-response programs and tracking systems that doubled qualified inquiries in less than one year. Managed all outside vendors. Selected for prestigious year-long “Excellence in Management” high-potential manager training program. Director, Public Relations, Embassy Suites Inc. Responsible for development and implementation of national public relations program supporting 100-plus Embassy Suites hotels. Managed three full-time staff and national public relations agency. I managed the public relations department, counseled clients, developed new programs and business-building initiatives. HIghlights: developed “Co-Stars,” a BLOCKBUSTER Video promotion that received two national awards. Created a major new promotion for Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau during the summer of 1992 that resulted in 32,000 visits to local attractions and 30 major feature articles.
