Autonomous Vehicle Software Engineer
My primary program is a part of Aurora's Applied Commercial Autonomy Program in which we fit into Boeing's Future Flight Deck efforts. Some of my roles and accomplishments on the program are...I maintain a software development environment for a team working toward live customer demos via developing our branching/merging strategy, writing custom scripts, and debugging codegen processes. I've supported two live demos so far. I help integrate Aurora controllers into simulations running in Boeing’s PSIM (high fidelity aircraft simulation). I continue to study 777X software architecture and how it is simulated to make this possible. I led the investigation of software interfacing between an Aurora CSCI in Boeing’s PSIM and future mission planning work in external applications. I wrote a C program running on RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to prototype communication. I write bash scripts to streamline simulation build processes.I have implemented several software features in support of customer demos such as custom Flight Mode Annunciations on the Primary Flight Displays.I coordinate between top-down pilot incapacitation concept efforts and bottoms-up autoland architecture prototyping. I have studied Aurora's MBSE process, created behavior diagrams and performed logical allocation within Cameo Systems Modeler. This systems engineering work has required me to read several PHAK chapters to understand how aircraft interact with the complex, regulated airspace. On a separate skillset side, I aid in the software functional management staffing efforts. I facilitate communication between software group leads, software challenge reviewers, and talent acquisition to move software candidates through a pipeline. I keep current on program staffing needs, manager staff capacity, and manager preferences on candidates to match qualified candidates with the appropriate hiring manager. I also review a lot of software resumes and attend recruiting events in promote Aurora.
Software Engineer Intern
I created a structural systems model for an F15 system in Cameo for a Safety Critical Function Thread Analysis via developing a comprehensive system understanding of the hardware and software
Software Engineer Intern
I wrote peer-reviewed L5 software requirements for a hand-code fuel quantity measurement ARINC 429 driver interface and part of a fuel system nominal control model. I also wrote the associated software models in C, Simulink, and Stateflow. I wrote a section of Aurora's Orion’s Software Safety Critical Function Thread Analysis per AC-17-01 and MIL-HDBK-516C.
Software Engineer Intern
I designed and implemented an aircraft tracking camera for flight test operations. I purchased a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera; wrote C/C++ programs and scripts utilizing HTTP, UDP communications, and GPS coordinate math to take position telemetry streamed from the aircraft and appropriately point the camera to keep the aircraft in view; and setup the camera in a Mobile Operations Center. I also got exposure to the flight control software of our Pegasus PAV writing some unit tests.
Engineering 4 Hardware Intern
I worked with the product design services group in electronic packaging. Another hardware intern and I spent the summer working on a movable dish tracking satellite antennae as research and development for Hughes' collaboration with OneWeb to provide satellite communications with a fleet of low earth orbit satellites. This involved researching and selecting motors for three axis of freedom movement, producing a working CAD model to simulate the assembly, and rapidly prototyping the design via 3D printing and aluminum machining. We also designed a thermal test platform to standardize the classification of thermal interface materials used by Hughes.
