Passionate about volunteering, I have been able to progress my skills within Surf Life Saving from age 13 as a volunteer surf lifesaver, through to Patrol Captain and Chief Patrol Officer, and now appointed as Director of Member Development. Through these I was given the opportunity to join the Surf Life Saving WA Lifesaving Advisory Committee, with the opportunity to represent clubs at a state level. I was also selected in the Surf Life Saving Australia Women's Mentoring Program to grow female leadership in Surf Life Saving across the country.Through my studies, I have completed over 300 hours of unpaid practicum at Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Nature Play WA and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. These roles have given me real life experience in the industry in both the areas of marketing, recreation and sport. From my practicum experience, I obtained a role at the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries as a Project Support Officer in the Industry Development team within Sport and Recreation. This role has given me the opportunity to connect with State Sporting Associations and apply my knowledge into helping build the capacity of Sport in Western Australia. I have now continued working at DLGSC as part of the Sport Business team where opportunities continue to make themselves available and network within the industry.
