Provides financial and business oversight of units that report to the Division and all activities of the Division, ensuring accounting, reporting, and compliance with policies, regulations, and external restrictions. Work closely with the Division’s Vice President to align the strategic plan with financial planning resource allocation, business operations, and budget forecasting. Work with the Associate Vice President (AVP) and finance teams of other business units and divisions to develop advanced business and financial models and process improvements to support the Division’s goals and growth. Provide leadership to the Division’s department staff related to the financial operations functions of the Divisions.

Provides financial data and planning assistance to the VP of Research and departments under the Research Unit. Prepares yearly budget based on historical financial information and forecast revenue and works with Research senior leadership during the annual budgeting to produce required planning documents. Provides monthly financial reports to support the annual operating budget for seven departments, two institutes, and four centers under the VPR. Manages an accounting team responsible for the units' payroll, employee onboarding, purchasing, payment processing, travel reimbursements, and reconciliation. This position is also responsible for department records retention, annual space survey, VPR awards dissemination, budget, and report collection. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls that provides reasonable assurance that department operations are practical and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
