I'm currently a senior Mechanical Engineering major pursuing a certificate in Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering. I seek to enter a mechanical engineering/design role upon graduation. Throughout my Pitt journey, I've gained a broad variety of skills through rigorous coursework. These include a working knowledge of CAD programs (such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion360, and PTC Creo), 3D printer and laser cutter technology, and woodworking tools. These skills proved useful when four other students and I created a functioning solar powered rover capable of traversing obstacles and overcoming mechanical limitations as part of our Introduction to Mechanical Design class.Although the engineering coursework has been difficult at Pitt, my learning continues outside of the classroom. I am a member of the mechanical team for Pitt SailBot - a student-run organization where students design, fabricate, and program an autonomous sailboat to compete in the annual International Robotic Sailing Regatta - has presented numerous instances of teamwork, brainstorming, and iterative design. Through a personal passion in 3D printing, I developed a greater knowledge of 3D modeling, creative design techniques, and mechanical components. My involvement with Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity, has provided avenues for professional development, service, and a network of driven individuals.Over the course of my learning, I've been able to work in Pittsburgh with Westinghouse Electric Company and ZOLL LifeVest for a total of three rotations as a mechanical engineering co-op. As I continue with my education and professional development, I look forward to immersing myself in experiences that will enhance my professional and personal attributes.
