Kathleen Coffey Steimel RN, BSN is co-founder and CEO of EliteNursing. With over 30 years of nursing experience, Kathleen has proficiency in varied fields of acute medical care, visiting nursing, emergency room, intensive care nursing as well as geriatric care management. Most of Kathleen’s career has focused on home care where she has wide-ranging experience as a clinical nursing supervisor, coordinating the care needs and services for geriatric and pediatric clients in the community.Her extensive knowledge in assessing, advocating and promoting enhanced care for patients with chronic illness and/or disabilities led to her appointment to the New York State Early Intervention Coordinating Council. Appointed in 1990 by Governor Mario Cuomo, Kathleen proudly served for three years on this organization which was responsible for planning and implementing a statewide program to provide services to those with disabilities. Kathleen’s passion to start a company that would provide superior private duty nursing care began with her own personal experience. Her son Patrick, who had been chronically ill for many years, required at-home private duty nursing until he passed away at the age of 15. Kathleen possesses a deep personal understanding of the critical role of private duty nursing and the impact a caring and professional nurse has on the life of the patient and family.
