Responsible for the Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations functions for the University. Plans, directs and reviews the activities and operations of business continuity across the institution, following the five phases of emergency management: Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery. • Collaborates cross-functionally to conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses.• Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations.• Identifies critical business functions or systems required for operation and proposes backup or recovery plans.• Develops and oversees testing for the organization’s emergency response plans. Works closely with the Disaster Recovery function to develop plans for protecting the organization’s data assets.• Assesses vendors to ensure that agreements comply with established business continuity requirements. Coordinates with governmental safety or law enforcement agencies in the emergency planning process.• Develops and promotes business continuity policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.• Directs preparation of directives to division or department supervisor outlining policy, program, or operational changes to be implemented.• Conducts, develops and assesses emergency response and business continuity training programs and effectiveness.• Develops, implements, and provides training policies, standards, guidelines, and security monitoring processes in relation to general control, privacy regulations, and development and operation of the University’s infrastructure.

Member of the Research Integrity Unit of the Office of Research and Economic Development--handling all university-sponsored research for faculty and graduate/doctoral research projects involving human and animal subjects.Responsible for Coordinating preventive education and outreach training activities to proactively train researchers on areas relating to human research compliance.• Enhance community awareness of the regulatory requirements on conducting research of human and animal subject research for university-sponsored research activities. • Conduct post-approval quality assurance monitoring of research projects. • Validate continued maintenance of corrective action plans and assist with further compliance investigations as appropriate. • Update and educates research compliance committee members on new federal regulation developments and the appropriateness of review procedures. • Monitor issues and develops and implements improvement plans as needed.
