I set on the board of the BC Association for Charitable Gaming. The organization was set up to represent non-profits and charities receiving Gaming funds from BC Gaming.It was founded in 1999 when a memorandum of agreement was signed between the BC Government and the BCACG whereby BC non-profits would receive 33 1/3% of the net proceeds from gaming.

I was one of ten finalists in the competition. There were five for Canadian organizations and five who worked in international organizations

Conduct board meetings, work with board. to set policy, strategic planning. As the Volunteer E.D. I do administration including fundraising, work with volunteers and staff. (And everything in between including giving field trips, training volunteers and staff, marketing the Society's education programs). Our latest fundraisers include "Raising Dough" with local Cobs bakeries where 5% of designated sales comes to the Society. Special events include the Jog for the Bog on International Bog Day, The Society's first annual golf tournament, Wetland Adventures Summer Day Camps, field trips for schools (K to university) and public tours for community grops and people who are interested in finding out more about Burns Bog.

Founding and current President of Burns Bog Conservation Society. I retired from teaching ESL in 1998. Working for the Society is exciting, fulfilling and frustrating. My biggest challenge is to make people aware that the Bog is not safe.An even bigger challenge is to get people to realize how important bogs are in preventing global warming. They cover 3% of the earth's surface but store twice as much carbon as the world's forests! Bogs filter 10% of the world's fresh water. Their destruction accounts for 10% of the world's greenhouse gases.The Dec. 7/07 United Nations report points out that the fastest and most cost effective way to reduce GHGs is to immediately stop the destruction of bogs (peatlands). If our Provincial and Federal governments took this report seriously, they would immediately stop the South Fraser Perimeter Road and look at alternate ways to provide access for trucks and people without destroying bogland.

Volunteer President and Volunteer Executive Director. Responsiblle for overseeing day to day operations that includes fundraising, education programs, volunteer programs and everything in between.

Actually I am the Volunteer Executive Director as well as the President of the Society. I am responsible for the overall operation of the Society. This administrative functions, fundraising and special events.

I attended meetings, Raised environmental concerns over projects and educated board members about the importance of Burns Bog to the community from an environmental perspective and a tourism opportunity.

I started out as a Home Economics teacher at Earl Marriott Secondary. Then I transferred to elementary where I taught Grade 1 & 2. The last 9 years found me teaching English As a Second Language at Cougar Creek Elementary. I loved it!

I worked as a receptionist in the Edmonton office for almost 2 years.
