Optimizes the overall mission, strategy, and development of the Acworth Police Department through policy administration, certification management, risk compliance, and strategic development.

Responsible for the full cycle certification process and ensuring the department is compliant with state certification and/or national accreditation and regulation standards of applicable governing bodies, including but not limited to Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) and Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition (GPAC). Effectively communicates and collaborates with all internal stakeholders to successfully manage, develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate current programs. Works closely with Command Staff to identify areas of improvement and successfully implement desired changes. Prepares and coordinates departmental activities related to the certification/accreditation process. Develops proofs of compliance for certification/accreditation standards, prepares policy drafts, prepares written documentation and reports, maintains computer databases, develops and revises agency forms, coordinates on-site assessments and inspections, tracks the submission of required administrative reports, and works closely with staff on policy development and review.

Creator and executor of the GBI Child Victims Unit, providing pediatric injury evaluation, death investigation, fatality review, and prevention services.

Certified POST Instructor who coordinated the death and/or maltreatment investigations of individuals 17 years of age and younger, including suicide and child abuse cases. Oversaw, directed, and supervised death investigative staff related to juvenile death investigation. Acted as a liaison with all involved agencies and remains the point of contact for juvenile death investigations and living victim maltreatment investigations. Provided training throughout the state of Georgia upon request by law enforcement, CPS, medical personnel, and other public and private agencies.

Managed the quality review process for the state’s child death cases. Supported the operations of the Child Fatality Review Program by providing technical assistance, consultation, staff development, and training to managers, staff, and public and private agencies. Collected, advised, analyzed, and evaluated county performance programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines to ensure quality of services and compliance guidelines. Managed the CDC Sudden Death in the Young (SDY) Case Registry Program for the state of Georgia.

Performed various technical, administrative, and investigative tasks to assist the medical examiners in determining the manner and cause of death. Responded to requests for autopsies from authorized requesters as defined by the Georgia Death Investigation Act. Communicated and coordinated with the Medical Examiners, family members, employers, witnesses, and law enforcement personnel, hospital staff, and other fields. Responded to death scenes or body location when requested. Inspected and documented by means of notes and photography the appearance and condition of the locale setting, body and other pertinent objects on or near the body. Obtained ante mortem dental and/or medical records necessary in the positive identification of human remains. Obtained pertinent past and present medical, social, family and other history from persons and sources associated with the decedent, including family, physicians, hospitals, co-workers, employers, and law enforcement agencies. Preserved the chain of custody when submitting evidence to the crime lab. Initiated and assisted with necessary follow-up investigations and communications with appropriate law enforcement agencies and legal entities.

Performed analytical procedures related to serology analysis of biological samples for the GBI Crime Lab. Performed serology analyses of physiological fluids for the purpose of identification and individualization.
