About Elizabeth Backhouse

I studied Drama at Hull University, graduating with a First Class Honours degree before moving to Kingston University to study a Primary PGCE. I achieved NQT-status after being graded 'Outstanding' on my school practice, and receiving good marks for my essays, including a research essay on inclusive schooling. I graduated as an SEN specialist, with a keen interest for the arts. I've now held a teaching position at a primary school in York for 7 years (3 years in KS2 as a year 3 teacher, the last 4 in reception as an EYFS teacher). After completing my NQT year, I also took on the responsibility of computing co-ordinator, which I held until September 2018. I am now the subject leader for PSHE, having previously also led RE. Upon returning to work after having my daughter, I now work part time as leadership cover, teaching in year 6, reception and year 1. I review books for Reading Zone in my spare time.
