The Reference and Transfusion department of Carter BloodCare follows the companies’ mission, we save lives by making transfusion possible, by testing patient and donor samples to find the most compatible units based on the presence of antibodies. I extract frequent donors DNA from retention tube samples to increase the red cell special inventory of rare antibody combinations, boosting our known combinations and decreasing the need for screening units which wastes antisera, saving valuable time and resources. I have proven to be highly experienced in: • Molecular extraction of samples for DNA amplification and antibody identification with the QIAsymphonySP.• Calibrate pipettes for Carter BloodCare and outside clients through gravimetric mass and the Artel Pipette Calibration System.• Input patient samples and hospital requests into eLIS.• Utilize LifeTrak to complete PDIRs, locate and check-in units, and place charges to facilities• Trained 5+ laboratory assistants and new technicians on the shared responsibilities between the positions.• Distribute final reports to facilities and prepare them with their corresponding workups for submittal to be scanned into OnBase.• Proactively maintain lab inventory.

Performed bacterial testing on all apheresis platelet products using aseptic techniques for collection and inoculation. Proofed and validated a new SOP for Verax testing to prolong the shelf life of platelets by 24 hours. Monthly quality control check on the leukoreduction filters of the whole blood bag sets for component production. Collaborated to write a plan for the validation ofa new manufacturers whole blood bag sets and performed the validation for each component type. Some of my accomplishments include:• Sysmex XE-2100D utilized to run all samples for obtaining cell counts of platelets, hematocrits, and all white cells with differentials.• Proofed and recommended updates to various SOPs.• Running samples for outside groups using our facility to further the field of blood banking.• Utilized HemaComply to calculate platelet yields for each apheresis and acrodose component and LifeTrak to define them.

Utilized separation techniques for the fractionation of whole blood units into their components of plasma, platelets, buffy coat, and leuko-reduced red blood cells using current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). Split plasma apheresis products into single unit portions, accounted for all parts of whole blood donations and concurrently documented work done to separate or manipulate components. Multitasked receiving all incoming products, preparing and sending testing tubes to CTS, checking in all apheresis products and splitting plasmas, and making and discarding all components unsuited for transfusion.• Utilized LifeTrak Lab to define components from donations.• Aided with process improvements including an organization system for random platelet rest times between stations.• Maintained a high percentage of the daily processing workflow.• Stayed to help ensure all work was completed for each day.

Worked as a team to accurately receive, type, fill, and distribute prescriptions to customers in a fast paced, high pressured regulated environment. Corresponded with medical practices and insurance companies to best take care of customer needs.• Utilized pharmaceutical and medical technology. • Sent as a store representative to district meetings.• Managed inventory orders and shipments.• Trained all new technicians, including techs from Target when CVS became their in-store pharmacies.• Monitored four different sources of incoming orders to triage workflow.
