I am an innovative, skilled occupational therapist with extensive leadership and management experience. I have been recognized for my ability to build and support professional and strategic interdisciplinary relationships, with high value placed on developing self and others, establishing trust and mutual respect, and navigating and managing complex challenges.My direct care and managerial experience is in outpatient and inpatient hospital settings as well as home care therapy services. I am passionate about providing evidence-based and family-centered care while sustaining patient and employee safety. I served as the Safety leader in a division of over 300 staff members for 10 years. Highlights of my work in safety include:1) Presented “Improving Safety Culture: Moving towards a High-Reliability Organization” at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital OT/PT Best Practices Leadership Conference. 2) Developing and implementing a division-wide process for improving daily reporting of unexpected outcomes and near misses using a standardized reporting system. 3) Led a team in the development of an Initial Behavioral Assessment (IBA) used by developmental outpatient therapists to determine the most effective Behavioral Personal Protective Equipment to sustain therapist and patient safety. This initiative resulted in the following outcomes:- Reduction of employee injuries from Aggressive Patient Interactions (API).- Increased the average number of days between staff injuries by 71 days.4) Presented findings from the IBA at the Healthcare Systems Process Improvement Conference in January 2022 entitled, "Early Identification of Aggressive Patient Behaviors and use of PPE.
